Hopkins Heights is being created around people and place. It is designed to cater to families, couples, and individuals of all ages. Priority is given to creating playgrounds, parks, and walking and riding trails, the Village Heart and community spaces that provide places for people to meet, relax, work, and play.

Activities at Hopkins Heights

In addition to the Village Heart and all it has to offer, the beautiful parks, the walking and riding trails, the viewing nooks, Hopkins Heights will have children’s play grounds, exercise pods, places for picnics and BBQ’s, Hopkins River trails and river’s edge recreation places and a community garden. If that’s not enough Hopkins Heights is linked to Logans Beach Coastal Village and the Whale Nursery and the wonderful meandering Foreshore Promenade for riding and walking to delightful Lady Bay, Warrnambool Harbour, Lake Pertobe Adventure Playground and Warrnambool City.

Parks and Green Spaces

Great parks and green spaces will be a defining and memorable feature of Hopkins Heights. They are essential to creating a wonderful neighbourhood for people to live in and enjoy.  They connect us with nature and provide wonderful gathering places.

A meandering 600 metre hill top park will grace the Hopkins Heights ridge, which is the highest point in Warrnambool.  This will incorporate the Village Centre, the community garden, walking and riding trails, exercise pods, picnic and BBQ spots and various nooks and crannies.

An incredible Hopkins River Park will connect with the wide and dramatic Hopkins River. The Park will snuggle into the low river banks and the river cliffs providing amazing public access to the Hopkins River.

Three reserves are being purposed as attractive accessible public places to be used for recreation, gathering, picnicking, performance and meeting. To great acclamation the first has been completed.  The remaining two are now being created.

There are separate walking and riding trails traversing Hopkins Heights providing so many options for safe travel through and around Hopkins Heights, for residents of all ages and capacities.

These beautiful public places are being designed by award winning Landscape Architects, Playstreet of Hobart, Tasmania.

Place Making and Activation

Village Well headed by Gilbert Rouchecouste, an internationally renowned Place Maker is working with us to activate Hopkins Heights and adopt Place Making as the cornerstone of the Hopkins Heights experience. Place Making involves curating activities and events with the community that nurture and nourish community aliveness and connection. This will occur over time and adapt and change.  We are deeply committed to this process of activation and resident engagement. It will be integral to the development of the village centre and the public spaces.
